Utility Construction Project Permit Application

The KPB Planning Department regulates construction activities by public utilities within borough rights-of-way. This includes utilities such as electric, natural gas, telecommunication, and others.

Utility companies must apply for a General Utility Permit each year to conduct maintenance to existing utility facilities within a right-of-way, as well as provide service connections from existing utility facilities to individual customers outside of the right-of-way. This permit ensures the company is in good standing and is qualified to perform these activities.

For each project within a right-of-way, the utility company must apply for a Utility Construction Permit, which will describe the project and where it is happening. If applicable, you must also include: Traffic Routing Plans, and Exception Request Evidence (including letters of non-objection from all affected utilities).
