Streams, Rivers & Lakes

The River Center works to protect and restore the rivers of the Kenai Peninsula, its watersheds, and its fish and wildlife resources.

Overview

The River Center is a multi-agency permitting facility that works to protect and restore the watersheds and natural resources across the peninsula. Programs at the River Center manage the KPB’s permitting and zoning matters for developments in and near salmon-bearing waterbodies and regulatory floodplains. Staff are here to help landowners through the permitting process and ensure that projects are designed to protect riparian habitat and mitigate flood damage.
