Legislative Priorities

Legislative Priorities are essentially funding requests to the State of Alaska or the Federal Government. The Kenai Peninsula Borough establishes these priorities through a collaborative process involving input from the Borough Mayor and Assembly, city officials, and community stakeholders. Each year, the Borough gathers feedback from residents, businesses, and other organizations to identify pressing issues and opportunities for state-level support. The Assembly reviews these concerns, considering factors such as regional impact, feasibility, and alignment with the Borough's long-term goals. After prioritizing the most urgent and strategic needs, the Borough works with state and federal legislators to advocate for these priorities during the legislative session, ensuring that the Kenai Peninsula’s voice is heard.
