Facility Rental

Facility Rentals are available Monday through Saturday during and outside of operating hours. Rental Requests require at least two weeks advance notice and a completed rental agreement. A non-refundable 50% deposit is required at time of booking.

Located adjacent to the Nikiski Community Recreation Center, the NPRSA Skate Park features various ramps, jumps, boxes and park equipment for all ages to enjoy.

Adult Supervision is recommended for children under the age of 12 years. Safety Equipment (helmets, pads, etc.) is recommended.

Bikes and scooters are prohibited.

Hours

Open from May to October the skate park is open to Skate Boarders during daylight hours.

ID's will be provided for Season Pass holders.

Flag Football

NPRSA’s flag football program is a coed league for students in 4th through 8th grade. The season begins in August and runs through the end of September. Teams play two games per week, all practices and games are located in Nikiski on the Nikiski Pool Fields. Registration begins in late July.

Nikiski Youth Basketball (NYB)--3rd-6th Grade CoEd

NPRSA’s NYB program is a coed league for students in 3rd through 6th grade.  The season begins in October and runs through the beginning of December.  This program is divided into a 3rd and 4th grade division and a 5th and 6th grade division.  Practices and games are held at NCRC.  Registration begins in September.

Nikiski Youth Basketball (NYB)--1st-2nd Grade CoEd

NPRSA’s 1st/2nd Grade basketball program is a coed league for students in 1st and 2nd grade only. The season begins in January. Practices and games are held at NCRC. Registration begins in December. 

Super Sonic Ultra Violet Youth Volleyball

NPRSA’s youth volleyball program is a coed league for students in 4th through 6th grade.  The season begins at the end of January and runs through mid March.  Practices and games are held at NCRC.  Registration begins at the end of December. 

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball League

NPRSA’s Adult Volleyball League is open to Adults 18 and over. The season begins in March and runs through the end of April. All games take place at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center Gymnasium. Game schedules and times depend on the number of teams participating. Registration begins at the end of February.

Women's Basketball League

NPRSA’s Adult Recreational Basketball League is open to women 18 and over.  The season begins in September and runs through mid-October. League night is held twice a week at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center Gymnasium. Game schedules and times depend on the number of teams participating.  Registration begins in August.

Adult Flag Football League

NPRSA’s Adult Flag Football League is open to adults 18 and over. The season begins in August and runs to the end of September. All games take place at the NCRC Fields. Game schedules and times depend on the number of teams participating. Registration is the beginning of August. 

Adult Kick Ball League

NPRSA's Adult Kick Ball League is open to adults 18 and older. The season begins in June and runs through the beginning of August. League night is held once a week at the NPRSA fields. Join your friends for a fun, social activity that will have you running and laughing regardless of your ability. Registration begins in June.

Nikiski Youth Track Meet

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area and the Nikiski Fire Fighters Association co-sponsor the annual Nikiski Youth Track Meet. The Nikiski Youth Track Meet is open to students in 1st through 5th grade. The meet takes place in May. Running practices and the long jump event are held prior to the meet at the local elementary schools and the track meet is held at the Nikiski High school. Registration begins in April.

Pitch Hit & Run

The Pitch Hit & Run Competition is open to girls and boys ages 7 to 14 years old. NPRSA’s local Pitch Hit & Run event is held every year during late May or early June. Participants compete in three skills competitions: pitching, hitting and running. Local results are submitted to the state from which sectional qualifiers and top finishers have a chance to attend the National Major League Baseball PHR Finals in the fall. Registration begins in May.

Family Fun in the Midnight Sun

NPRSA’s Family Fun in the Midnight Sun Event is a community wide event held every year on the third Saturday of June. NPRSA coordinates with the Nikiski Fire Department and local businesses to organize a fun filled day of activities. Activities include but are not limited to food booths, carnival booths, music, games, a 5-mile walk/run, age appropriate games with prizes, and family prize drawings. The whole community gathers each year on this day to enjoy the sun, the fun, and the games! Booths spaces are available to organizations. Registration begins in May.

Summer Day Camp

NPRSA’s Summer Day Camp is for boys and girls in 1st through 6th grade.  The camp begins on the second week in June and runs through the first week in August.  The camp runs three days a week utilizing the NPRSA facilities.  Activities include but are not limited to cooking, arts & crafts, games, fitness, nature hikes, field trips, sports, prizes and much, much more!  The camp is held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center with registration beginning in June.

Northern Lights Sports Camps

Each summer a variety of sports camps are offered for the youth of our community.  Past camps have included football, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, and soccer.  Please check with the Recreation Department for camps offered this year.

Teen Center

NPRSA’s Teen Center is open to teens ages 13 to 18 years old who are still enrolled in school.  The Teen Center is open year round with transportation available from Nikiski High School during the school year.  The Teen Center is comprised of two rooms filled with games and activities including pool, table tennis, foosball, air hockey, video games, movies, computers, board games and more.  The Teen Center is located in the Nikiski Community Recreation Center.  Yearly memberships are available.  Please contact the Recreation Department for more information.

Skate Park

NPRSA’s Skateboard Park is open to participants with registered Skate Park memberships. The Skate Park opens in May and closes in October. The Skate Park is located next to the Nikiski Community Recreation Center along Poolside Avenue. Safety equipment is recommended for all users, and adult supervision is recommended for children. Bikes and scooters are prohobited. Please see the NCRC staff for paperwork and membership information.

Open Gyms

NPRSA offers a variety of open gyms throughout the year.  These gym times include but are not limited to basketball open gym, volleyball open gym, toddler time, home school gym, and family gym.  Open gyms are held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center Gymnasium.  Please contact the Recreation Department for more information.

Full Swing Golf

NPRSA’s Full Swing Golf Simulator is open to users 16 and older. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The simulator has over 40 world-class courses to choose from, and also allows users to practice their swing on the driving range, practice approach shots, and to chip and putt. The Simulator is located at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Reservations are preferred, walk-ins welcome.

Arts & Crafts Class

NPRSA’s youth arts and crafts classes are offered to children ages 3 and up. Classes are offered once a week throughout the school year. Classes are held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. No pre-registration required. For details on fees and class times please contact the recreation department.

Community Garage Sale

North Peninsula Recreation offers the venue for a community garage sale on an annual basis for participants to buy or sell their goods. The Community Garage Sale takes place on a Saturday morning in the spring and/or summer and is held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Spaces are available for rent. Contact the recreation department for more information.

Community Craft Fairs

North Peninsula Recreation offers a Christmas Craft Fair the second Saturday in December and a Spring Craft Fair the third Saturday in April. Booth spaces are available to vendors for a nominal fee. Contact the recreation department for detailed information.

The Nikiski Community Recreation Center is located at mile 23.4 of the Kenai Spur Highway, the first right on Poolside Avenue. NCRC houses a gymnasium, banquet/multi-purpose rooms, teen center, full swing golf simulator, and a number of classrooms.

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area offers a variety of recreational activities at NCRC. Youth Sport programs and camps run year round offering organized sports for both youth and adults. Toddler Time and Home School Open Gym offer gym time to young children, and basketball and volleyball open gyms are popular with the adults as well as our Adult Volleyball League.

Teens are kept active in NCRC’s own teen center and entertained by monthly teen nights.

Golf lovers enjoy the Full Swing Golf Simulator, with practice settings and world-class courses available.

For those looking to get fit, we now offer bicycle spinning classes throughout the week.

Summer is exceptionally active with the annual Nikiski Youth Track Meet, Summer Day Camp, Family Fun in the Midnight Sun, and Northern Light Sport Camps. As well as a variety of smaller events and teen acitivities planned throughout the season.

Rentals are convenient at NCRC with extensive space and equipment available. Anything from a birthday party, corporate trainings, fundraisers, to large wedding receptions are easily accommodated at NCRC.
