The Solid Waste Department provides recycling and hazardous waste collection stations, environmental monitoring, and litter programs to ensure feasible and cost-effective waste management in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Our integrated solid waste program includes the development, operations and maintenance for the following locations:

Class I Monofill Landfills

Central Peninsula Landfill, Homer Monofill/Landfill and Seward Monofill/Landfill

Class III Rural Landfills

Beluga, Nanwalek, Port Graham, Rocky Ridge and Tyonek

Closed Landfills

Homer, Kenai, Seldovia, Seward, Soldotna and Sterling Special Waste Site
