The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers of all skill levels about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. Through CERT, the capabilities of the communities within the KPB to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters is built and enhanced. This training is free to participants.

This class is a 30 hour course. There is no cost for course or obligation to volunteer after the course, however space is limited and minimum enrollments are required in order to conduct the course.

During a disaster we need people to help by staffing shelters, call centers, door to door evacuations, search and rescue, triage, documentation just to name a few ways you can participate and help! If you are willing, we need your help.

If you would like to participate in the CERT training program please visit the website at CERT Home Page for upcoming training sessions or contact Jade Gamble at JGamble@KPB.us or (907)262-2097
